Pharma luminance-one day national seminar on current trends in
clinical pharmacy practice, 26/11/14. A
report of seminar by Third year Pharm.D
The
national seminar in clinical pharmacy practice at Pushpagiri College of
pharmacy mainly focused to improve and update the knowledge of current clinical
practice and practice related aspects at the workplaces. It included various
areas such as monitoring of drug therapy, ADRs, medication errors and drug
related problems. It mainly aimed at improving participants ability to review
and consolidate core clinical pharmacy skills and understanding the areas where
he can use these skills.
The seminar was inaugurated by Mr.dharmajan, Family court Judge. The
welcome speech was delivered by prof.Dr.Mathew George, Principal,
Pushpagiri
College of Pharmacy. The inaugural function winded up with the vote of thanks
by Mrs. Lincy Joseph, HOD Chemistry department, Pushpagiri College of pharmacy.
The
seminars provided us with a chance of introspection, evaluating ourselves and
perceive the arena of our interest in vast field of clinical pharmacy. The
seminar started with the first session which was taken by Dr.suresh .S.David,
emergency surgeon at Pushpagiri hospital. He delivered information regarding
evolution of pharmacy as an important area. The second session was taken by
Dr.M.Surulivel Rajan, faculty of Department of Pharmacy Practice, Manipal
College of pharmacy. The session dealt with evolution of clinical pharmacists -
current dilemma & possible future He delivered ideas about the roles of clinical
pharmacist which extends from pharmaceutical industry to healthcare delivery
and bundling products with services. The third session was handled by
Dr.Rajesh.V, from department of pharmacy Practice, Manipal College of Pharmacy.
The session included discussion on information management to research in
pharmacy practice: essential skills and practical tips. The demo session
ensured us with the proper operation of software’s such as Lexicomp,
Micromedex, and Read Elsevier India.
The seminar helped all of us in
producing a clear and unique perspective towards our duties as a clinical
practitioner. The only remedy to fear is attaining knowledge. Apart from
attaining the theoretical knowledge from the books a student should try to step
into the wide area of practice and help himself evolve into a dependable
clinical pharmacist.
