participated in one day National Pharmaceutical Conference
A
national pharmaceutical conference – Pharmacon V was organized by Nehru college
of pharmacy at Pampady, Thrissur on 21st and 22nd of
November 2013. The theme of the seminar was related to current scenario
and prospectives of pharmacy practice in India, with papers presented by
renowned speakers. Dr. Praveenlal Kuttichira, Dean (research) of Kerala University
of Health Sciences attented the ceremony as the chief guest. The first day
schedule included orators from legends of the field. Dr R Manavalan, Professor
and HOD of Pharmacy, Annamalai University, Chidhambaram, spoke on clinical
trials, pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics in clinical trials. The
topic pharmacovigilance was made easier by the words from Dr A M Ismail, Vice
Principal, Periyar college of Pharmaceutical sciences for girls,Trichy. Dr S
Kavimani, HOD, pharmacology, Mother Teressa Govt institute, Puducherry dealed
with drug design and drug discovery. The second day began with a lecture
from Dr. K.Gouthamarajan, Professor and
HOD, Pharmaceutics, JSS Ooty, where he spoke on nanopharmacotherapeutics, drug
formulation in dermatology and innovative nanotechnology based systems. The
core competencies in clinical pharmacy practice was elaborated by Dr S Sriram,
HOD Pharmacy Practice, College of Pharmacy, SRIPMS, Coimbatore, which was very
encouraging for the would-be-clinical pharmacists. The session was concluded by
the valedictory function on the same day. The programme was beneficial enough
for academicians and students as well as it provided quality exposure and
information building up a deep sense of passion towards the career in every
professional.
Oral
and poster presentations were also conducted by the college and the best of
them were awarded. The Alshifa crew of Pharm D and M.Pharm students actively took part in
the competitions and Danisha ,Second M.pharm bagged first and Sajitha, Second
M.pharm bagged third prizes in poster presentations.
The
conference as a whole provided a grand opportunity in understanding emerging
areas of pharmacy practice and wider learning about existing concepts so that
it could boost up the enthusiasm and confidence of students in the field.
