 ADVANCING PHARMACY PRACTICE IN INDIA: THE NEXT GENERATION PHARMACIST”

The pharmacy profession in India is under profound transformation with the Pharmacy Practise education programme focusing on creating a new genus of Pharmacists who are clinically oriented and can associate with the other health care professionals to provide fuel for keeping abreast with the rapidly evolving global scenario. This calls for the co-operation and synchrony among the multitude areas of expertise. This necessitates for an opportunity to establish collaboration among the think-tanks of the profession so as to meet the over-whelming needs of the hour from both the patients as well as the medical population.
The inaugural convention of the Indian Association of Colleges of Pharmacy & Indian Congress of Pharmacy Practice-2014 with the theme “Advancing pharmacy practice in India: the next generation pharmacist” was held at Hotel Sheraton, Bangalore on 21st& 22nd February 2014 as a platform for interaction of the new breed of clinically-oriented  Pharmacists to interact with the resource personals from across the globe and to equip them with clinical experience, cross-disciplinary skills, critical thinking, problem solving skills and managerial skills.
The event was flagged off with the Inaugural session where the delegates as well as the resource personals were warmly welcomed by Dr.B.Suresh, President, PCI and Dr. K.Chinnaswamy , President, IACP. The colossus and the grandeur of the seminar really took us by surprise unless we were already surprised with the number of delegates that turned out.
Even though the brochure of the seminar, which we had received at our colleges were surely an evidence of the magnitude of what was coming, it was nothing compared to the first-hand experience in the midst of the proceedin
