National Pharmacy Week Celebrations – 22nd & 23rd

Al Shifa College of
Pharmacy along with Kerala
State Pharmacy Council, Kerala Drug Control Department, Kerala Pharmacy
Graduates Association, Kerala Private Pharmacist Association, All Kerala Chemist
& Druggist Association and Indian Pharmaceutical Association celebrated 50th
National Pharmacy week celebrations on the theme “Pharmacist- A Health Care
Professional".
The celebration was initiated with a Pharma rally for making awareness on safe
use of medicines and prevention of medication errors on eve of National
Pharmacy Week celebrations. The rally was flagged off by Dr.R.Saraswathi,
Director, AlShifa College of Pharmacy from Government hospital, Perinthalmanna
at 9.00 am and concluded at Town hall.
In this “Awareness Rally” Principals from various colleges, Teaching Faculties
and Pharmacy students of different
Pharmacy Colleges were participated and show case posters and
distributed pamphlets regarding safe use of medications.
Inaugural
programme was started at 10am at Town hall, Perinthalmanna. Mr.K.P.Mohammed
Haneefa, Vice Principal, Al Shifa College
of Pharmacy welcomed the gathering. The
programme was inaugurated by Mrs.K.Sudhakumari, Municipal chairperson,
perinthalmanna and delivered the presidential address. Dr.K.Krishnakumar, Principal, St.James
College of Pharmacy had delivered a talk on “Dignity of Pharmacist and their
need in future". The celebration was felicitated by Mr.P.Unneen, Managing
Director, Al Shifa Hospital, Mr.A.K.Raveendran, Drug inspector, Malappuram,
Mr.M.R.Ajith Kishore, Member, KSPC, Mr.N.Abdul Rasheed, Managing Director, Moulana
hospital, Mr.Rajan, former District President, Mr.C.Balakrishnan, Member state
secretriate, KPPA and Mr.Mahesh Pallialthodi, District President, KPPA.Seminar
session started at 11.30 am on “Judicious use of anitibiotics” by Dr.R.Saraswathi,
Director, Al Shifa College of Pharmacy. Dr.Sapna Sreekumar, Principal , Moulana
College of Pharmacy delivered a talk on “Current trend and Scope of
Pharmacy”.The programme was concluded with vote of thanks given by Mr.Abdul
Jabbar T., Chemist club convenor.
A
Pharma exhibition was conducted at Al Shifa College of Pharmacy on 23rd
November 2011 for giving awareness about Pharmacy Profession and role of
Pharmacist in medication use to school children and college students. The exhibition was very informative and well
received by large number of students representing various institutions in Malappuram
district.
