Sucral coat- what coat is this

Sucral coat- what coat is this

Recently I came across a drug combination of sucralfate and lignocaine in ointment form for use in painful peri anal conditions. Sucralfate which is a mucoprotective for acid secreted in stomach and is widely used for ulcer disease in stomach used as an anal ointment is absurd. Applying same rules for stomach and anus is far fetched. There are many more of such drug combinations. Doctors and practicing pharmacy graduates must caution general public as well as their contemporaries against such irrational drug combinations. This is necessary due to easy availability of such medicines over the counter. If we are not sure about their usefulness, do not use them or read about their scientific basis and use them if there is a significant level of evidence for their use. Pharmacy graduates can play a greater role in a hospital setup by bringing out news letters or internal communications regarding the rational use of such drug combinations. After all we all stand united for the cause of alleviation of suffering.
