RELIABILITY OF INTERNET SOURCES

RELIABILITY OF INTERNET SOURCES

Have a look on the reliability of the internet access before clicking to a fastest data retrieval source. A very recent example to light in to this new controversy is a casual query about the contraindication and drug interaction of Thrombiflo. The query was from the nursing department to the drug information centre working in our hospital. The data retrieval meant through various secondary resources available in the DIC on content of Thrombiflo, especially through CIMS INDIA, MEDCLIK, Google search, Medindia. Information available in all these sites except “Medindia” quotes the content of Thrombiflo as Fenofibrate instead of Enoxaparin (the real content), where the two drugs (Fenofibrate and Enoxaparin) belongs to two different categories. Fenofibrate belongs to the category of hypolipidemic agent, mainly used for hyperlipidemia, whereas Enoxaparin is a low molecular weight heparin mainly used as an anticoagulant. This simple example helps us to be more aware and to make sure about the reliability of the internet data for a better patient care.
