Editorial
On an invitation received from World
health organization, I had an opportunity to participate in essential medicine
and health policy 2016, Technical briefing session(TBS) held at WHO Geneva from
17th Oct to 21st Oct 2016. Spending time one week among the most
influencing and powerful policy makers in the health care sector was indeed a
rewarding moment in my professional life. The technical briefing session
provided an enthralling intuition on the essential medicines concept. There
were about 29 different sessions during these 5 days period, including origin,
concept, history and future of Essential medicines products (EMP). Also, many
experts discussed various burning issues on Antimicrobial resistance (AMR,)
Spurious drugs, Regulatory aspects, Procurement and supply chain mismanagement,
good governance in pharmaceutical sector etc. The TBS training were unique and diverse with 30
different participants representing different countries across the world. It
was really a proud moment for me to represent our country India, and I
feel contended to be selected as a
candidate from Alshifa college of Pharmacy. The
outcome of the meeting was fruitful and
in this issue the readers can have a glimpses of the same.
Our
department as usual, forges ahead with numerous activities including the
